Don’t want to receive OUMMs? While students are strongly advised to review OUMM messages before deletion, you can manage these messages by following the instructions below.
**How to filter OUMM: Outlook 2007**
1. To start a new rule:
Open Outlook and go to Tools > Rules and Alerts.
Click New Rule on the Rules and Alerts Screen.
2. To tell Exchange to look for OUMMs:
Using the Rules Wizard, select Move messages with specific words in the subject to a folder.
In the bottom window, click specific words.
On the Search Text pop-up window, type OUMM in the top-most text area. Click Add, then OK.

3. To tell Exchange what to do with the OUMM emails:
Back in the Rules Wizard, click specified under Step 2. A list of folders will appear. Click New... to create a new folder.
Title the folder OUMM, then click OK and Finish (in the Rules Wizard dialog box).
4. To save your rule:
Click Apply and then OK in the Rules and Alerts window. That's it. When you receive OUMMs, they will be automatically placed in your OUMM folder.
**How to filter OUMM: Outlook Web App**
NOTE: These instructions apply to the full version of OWA accessible via Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari. If your browser does not support the full version, you can use Entourage, Outlook, or an OU IT lab computer to set rules.
1. Log in to your mailbox at exchange.ou.edu.
Click Options in the top right-hand corner of Outlook Web App and select Create an Inbox Rule... from the drop-down menu.

2. Choose New from the Inbox Rules menu.
In the next steps, you will tell Exchange how to handle OUMMs when they are sent to you.
3. In the New Inbox Rule pop-up:
click the drop-down menu under When the message arrives, and: Select It includes these words in the subject...
The Specify Words or Phrases dialogue box will open. Type OUMM: in the text field and click the green plus sign [ + ]. Click OK to save.

4. Back in the New Inbox Rule window:
click the drop down menu under Do the following: and choose an option.
To move OUMMs to a specific folder for review at a later date, select Move the Message to a Folder. Use the Select Folder pop-up box to choose where you would like to store your OUMMs. Click OK to save your rule.
To Delete OUMMs completely as they arrive, select Delete the Message.

When OUMMs are sent to your mailbox, Exchange will now delete the message or move it to the selected folder based on your choice in step 4.
**How to filter OUMM: Mac Mail**
1. Click the Mail button in the top left portion of the screen and select Preferences.
2. Select the Rule tab and Add Rule.
3. Fill out the information for the rule as follows:
Click the drop down menus to include subject contains "OUMM".
Move the message to the junk e-mail folder or some other folder and click OK.
Your new rule will now appear in the Rules section.
