Campus Transition from D2L to Canvas: Things to Do Before 6/2

Things to Do Before 6/2

As the University of Oklahoma changes from D2L to Canvas, here are some recommended steps you can take as an instructor to help ease the transition and make sure you are prepared for teaching in Canvas. The last day to access D2L is June 2, 2017.

1. Export Student Submissions (Dropbox/Grades) from D2L

It is imperative that instructors download any desired student data (enrollments, discussions, grades, assignment submissions, etc.) before the last day of D2L access, as this information is not transferred during a course migration. Instructors can export this information by following these instructions: Download student assignment submissions

2. Export Gradebook information from D2L

As an instructor, you can retain gradebook information from your course(s) by exporting the information into a CSV file that can be read in Microsoft Excel and other programs. For instructions on exporting your D2L gradebook, visit here: Export gradebook information

3. Migrate Courses that are prior to Spring 2014 from D2L to Canvas

The previous two years of course content (Summer 2014 - Summer 2016) have been migrated for instructors. Please note that only instructor content was migrated - student data (enrollments, discussions, grades, assignment submissions, etc.) were not transferred. If you would like to migrate courses prior to Summer 2014, you can do so by following these steps:
  1. Create a blank, new course on Canvas
  2. Import your D2L course to Canvas
  3. Locate migrated courses (click here for instructions)
  4. Check that all desired course content has been migrated

4. Exporting Quiz Statistics from D2L

If you are an instructor that would like to retain statistical information regarding student performance on Quizzes, you can export that information using the following instructions: Saving Quiz Stats and Reports
